UCPS Communications Office wins nine state Blue Ribbon awards
The Union County Public Schools Communications Office took nine Blue Ribbon awards Friday (January 28, 2011) recognizing outstanding school public relations publications across the state.
The awards were given at the North Carolina School Public Relations Associationâ€™s (NCSPRA) annual Blue Ribbon Awards Ceremony for Effective Communications, held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Durham on January 28, 2011.
The UCPS Communications Office was recognized for Excellence in Writing for the article, â€œBudget cliff year lies ahead;â€ for two UCPS handbooks, the â€œUCPS Kindergarten Handbook,â€ and the â€œMiddle School Handbook;â€ for the UCPS web site; for its â€œBus STOP Safety Marketing Campaign;â€ for its employee newsletter, â€œInside News;â€ for Excellence in Photography for a photo called the â€œLunchroom Smile,â€ and â€œThree Amigos;â€ and for Excellence in the Special Purpose Publications for â€œK-5 Goals and Objectivesâ€ booklet.
The award-winning entries were produced by UCPS Chief Communications Officer Luan Ingram, UCPS Communications Coordinator Deb Coates Bledsoe, UCPS Visual Communications Coordinator Arthur Rogers and UCPS Web Communications Coordinator Don Mace.
Entries were judged by the Georgia School Public Relations Association (GSPRA) and a number of Georgia newspaper journalists. This yearâ€™s competition brought in a total of about 180 entries from school systems across the state.
