2012 Sophomores Visited US Holocaust Museum
Last Spring, MRHS Sophomores in Ms. Arant and Ms. Haynes’ classes visited US Holocaust Museum. Students had read the novel Night by Elie Wiesel as part of their English curriculum. The new Common Core Curriculum includes the study of seminal American documents, rhetoric, speaking, and listening.
Before travelling to DC, the classes studied great American speeches. While in DC, they visited the locations where the speeches were originally given and the monuments dedicated to the famous men who made the speeches. The trip certainly brought to life the significance of what they studied and will no doubt aid our students contextualizing the lesson of U.S. history this year in 11th grade.
