Monroe High School Principles of Business Classes Complete Globalization Project
Principles of Business classes at Monroe High School are studying International Business and Multinational Corporations. Students researched how and why businesses enter foreign markets. The students learned about various strategies such as franchising, licensing, and joint ventures as alternatives to entering the international marketplace in addition to committting capital to build brick and mortar structures and hiring personnel. They evaluated when each might be advantageous in adding to the company's growth and profit potential.
Students were divided into groups of 3-4 and randomly assigned a country to research. They researched various websites using the knowledge they had acquired earlier and measured trade to distinguish a favorable or unfavorable balance. The information was recorded on a poster along with other research which yielded the name of that country's currency and the exchange rate versus the U.S. dollar. Students recorded Gross Domestic Products and GDP per capita as a measure of productivity.
