Teacher of the Year and Teacher Assistant of the Year Selected
Mrs. Eichorn, Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Young, Teacher Assistant of the Year were recently honored at Sandy Ridge Elementary School.
Mrs. Eichhorn, her husband Randy and daughter Madison have lived in Waxhaw for the past 12 years. The moved here from Jacksonville, Florida but are both originally from Frostburg, Maryland. She graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Special Education. Her teaching career spans 15 years between Florida and North Carolina; the last 6 years here at Sandy Ridge. She enjoys spending her free time reading, playing with their multiple pets and watching Maddie ride her horse. Her time at Sandy Ridge has been very rewarding and exciting!
Congratulations, also goes out to Terri Young for being selected as Teacher Assistant of the year for Sandy Ridge! Mrs. Young has been at Sandy Ridge for 7 years working in the job that she loves! Her favorite part of the job is the students and their families. She earned her degree from Michigan State University and was employed with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for 15 years prior to coming to Sandy Ridge. At home she has two children, Haley age 14 and Connor age 17. She and her husband Patrick have enjoyed 20 years of marriage. We'd like to wish Mrs. Young big congratulations and heartfelt thanks for all she has done for the students at Sandy Ridge.
