First grade students meet principals from Argentina!
They included questions about culture, such as “What is your favorite Argentine food?” They also included questions about the principals’ jobs including, “What happens when a student misbehaves and is sent to the principal’s office at your school?” The principals graciously answered the questions in Spanish and their translator let the class know what they said in English. At the end of the visit, Mr. Althof’s students presented the principals with a goodwill gift of a class pattern book which had a picture of each student and a statement that said, “Me llamo (student’s name). !Me gusta leer! ?Y tu?” Each student stood up and read their own page in Spanish. The English translation is: “My name is (student’s name). I like to read! Do you?” The principals were very moved by the presentation and they invited us to Skype one of their schools when they return to Argentina!! Mr. Althof’s class looks forward to meeting their new Argentine friends in the near future!
