CHS Drama Department Earns Recognition

The award-winning cast and crew of "Dark of the Moon" competed at the North Carolina State Theatre Conference November 15.

Congratulations to the CHS cast and crew of “Dark of the Moon” for receiving the Distinguished Play Award at the North Carolina Regional Theatre Conference (NCTC). 118 productions from 86 high schools competed in this year’s conference. Only 18 received the recognition of Distinguished Production from the adjudicators to advance to the State level. “Dark of the Moon” competed with 17 other NC High School productions at the North Carolina State Theatre Conference on November 15, 2012, at Greensboro College. CHS came away with even more recognition. 

“Alice in Wonderland” and “Dark of the Moon” North Carolina Theatre Conference (Regional) Awards:

“Dark of the Moon”: Veronica Pfaff for Excellence in Stage Management; Tommy Balszkow, Conner Hamilton, Trevor Isaacs and Nils Long for Technical Design; Victoria Hester for Excellence in Acting; Jacob Skrutowski, the Emerging Artist Award and the Distinguished Play Award.

“Alice in Wonderland”: Excellence in Makeup Design (Cast); Christina Alrecht, Harrison Taylor and Nils Long for Excellence in Stage Management and Design

North Carolina State Theatre Conference – “Dark of the Moon” Awards Received:
Theatre Arts Award for Excellence in Make-Up Design
Excellence in Design and Production

NCTC - College Auditions:
Harrison Taylor (Senior) and Taylor Neal (Junior) auditioned for 26 Colleges and Universities offering scholarships and early admission. Harrison received call backs from 9 colleges and Taylor received 11 call backs.

We are very proud of all our performers! Way to go, Cavs!
