Ronald Wayne Hoxit Receives Unsung Hero Award at Piedmont High School

Ronald Wayne Hoxit, a student in the Transition to Adulthood (TTA) class, was awarded the Unsung Hero Award for 2012-2013 at Piedmont High School. An Unsung Hero is one who often goes unrecognized for the great accomplishments he or she makes and is voted on by teachers and staff at Piedmont High School.

Hoxit displays strong character and a great work ethic, attends school regularly, possesses a positive outlook, and has a desire for a better life. Wayne has an inspirational quote by Virginia Woolfe that is indicative of his strength of character and integrity, “If you do not tell the truth about yourself, you cannot tell it about other people.”

Hoxit likes to challenge himself with new activities. His teacher, Mariana Oprea, commented, ”Wayne wants greater responsibility and follows through when given to him. He is also friendly and looks for opportunities to help other people. I enjoy having Wayne in my class.” Last year, Wayne and another student in his class received an Honorable Mention designation in the “What’s Super About Public School” high school video contest.

Wayne plans to use his many gifts and talents both in the workplace and in the community after graduation. Wayne will work at Union Diversified Industries (UDI) in Monroe, and he would also like to volunteer in a variety of capacities to help the poor and those who are in need. Congratulations, Wayne, on being selected as the Unsung Hero of Piedmont High School for 2012-2013.
