Union County Early College participates in the Monroe Christmas Parade

Students dress in traditional garb from various countries for UCEC's "Merry Christmas from Around the World" parade entry for the 2012 City of Monroe Holiday parade.

Sunday, November 18, turned out to be a wonderful day for a parade. Approximately 30 students joined Ms. Jane Wade, principal and Ms. Karen Pharr, teacher and SGA sponsor, to participate in the annual City of Monroe Holiday parade. The school theme for the parade was “Merry Christmas from Around the World.”Ms. Pharr said, “Our students were dressed in beautiful costumes representing different countries from around the world. The day was beautiful, clear and just a little cold.” The students passed out candy to children who were watching the parade and played holiday music from various countries. Twelfth grade student, Katherine Mazzucco, reigned as parade princess for UCEC. UCEC is rapidly gearing up for the holiday season. Immediately after Thanksgiving, the students will be preparing for our annual visit from pre-kindergarten students from Walter Bickett Education Center.
