Student Council Strives to Meet $20,000 Goal for Children's Christmas Party
The SVHS Student Council is currently sponsoring its annual Children’s Christmas Party (CCP). The purpose of CCP is to help local families who may be facing financial difficulties. The children who are helped by CCP attend SVHS’s feeder elementary schools, which include Shiloh, Sun Valley, Rocky River and Indian Trail. Those students are chosen by their school counselors, and the Student Council raises money to help give those children a Christmas.
Each child will receive three new outfits, one new pair of shoes, a new winter coat, school supplies and toys that have been placed on Santa’s list. The child’s family members will also receive gifts. In addition, the money raised also gives the family food to have a Christmas dinner. This adds up to roughly $500 per family, which means that if the goal of $20,000 is met, 40 families will benefit from CCP.
Local businesses and the student body of SVHS make donations to fund the Children’s Christmas Party. Each year, Student Council’s goal of raising $20,000 has been reached, if not surpassed. All donations are tax deductible. Those interested in making a donation can make checks payable to the Sun Valley High School Children’s Christmas Party.
