Sun Valley Elementary Believes in Make A Wish
Sun Valley Elementary students spread hope for children in Union County during a letter-writing campaign that is slated to make hundreds of dollars for the Make a Wish Foundation.
The project began after students returned to school from Thanksgiving break. Students began discussing children in the area with terminal diseases during their media center time with SVES Media Coordinator Kevin Vickers, SVES Instructional Support Louise Glover and SVES Instructional Support Brian McDonald.
Macy’s donated $2 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $1 million to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Money collected stays in our area.
Students were given the example of Hope Stout, a former UCPS student who was offered a wish from Make-A-Wish Foundation. Realizing that there were more than150 children who were on Make-A-Wish Foundation’s waiting list, Hope wished that all these children would be able to receive their wish.
Letters were dropped off at Macy’s at South Park Mall. Sun Valley Elementary students turned in more than 1,200 letters. Many were eager to write two letters.
