Voyagers Promote World Peace

To show their support for World Peace, Voyagers, the PRHS multicultural club, created 1000 origami cranes. The city of Hiroshima, site of the first use of the atomic bomb and home of radiation victim Sadako Sasaki, has agreed to display their garland in the Hiroshima Peace Park by the monument to Sadako.

As part of their Peace Project, members of Voyagers Club spoke to 7th social studies students at Porter Ridge Middle School. The explained the significance of the crane as a peace symbol and taught the children how to make this traditional Japanese craft. Their Middle School audience contributed half the cranes.
