The WDES Million Tab Challenge Helps the Ronald McDonald House

Throughout the month of January, the students, staff, and families of Weddington Elementary School participated in the Million Tab Challenge. This challenge involved collecting pop tabs from soda cans in order to raise funds to support the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte.

The Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte is a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill children from across the Carolinas and the country, who are receiving medical treatment at hospitals in Charlotte, North Carolina. During short-term or extended hospital stays, the House provides a safe haven for families to rest, eat and find support from one another and the community as they cope with their children’s medical needs.

Weddington Elementary made the Million Tab Challenge fun! Classes that collected the most pop tabs won a prize! Mrs. Divine's Exceptional Children's class was the grades K-2 winner and Mrs. Helms' 5th grade class was the grades 3-5 winner. Schoolwide, WDES collected over 50,000 pop tabs that weighed over 25 pounds! Great job Weddington Elementary students and community!
