BHESA presented with A+ Banner
The faculty and staff of BHESA enjoyed a fast paced and informative overview of our A+ partnership on February 6, 2013 in BHESA's media center. Ms. Michelle Burrows, the Director of the A+ Schools Program, presented the workshop. Ms. Burrows and the A+ Schools Progam is based in Raleigh, NC. The workshop was about our partnership with A+ and information was shared about current updates across the state in 40 A+ schools of N.C. Ms. Burrows encouraged our faculty to reach outside of the norm in all academic subjects by teaching the new NC Common Core State Standards and Essential State Standards with arts infused lessons. The faculty and staff had a chance to discuss, re-connect and reflect on what it takes to teach lessons using all of our Arts faculty as resources.
Ms. Burrows and a team of A+ fellows will be at BHESA on Friday, February 15, 2013 for our Bank Day to observe our faculty as they team teach lessons that bring non-arts and arts specialists together in every classroom in our school. The afternoon will be staff development showcasing a formal lesson taught by two A+ fellows and then a de-briefing session. The faculty will then breakout in pairs per grade level to design, document and set the date for an arts integrated lesson to be taught in their respected grade levels. Ms. Burrows officially presented the New A+ Banner and logo to our campus with congratulations from the state. The new banner will be displayed on our building near the front circle.
