Warriors donate to Teens for Jeans
Freshman Myah Ward wanted to make a difference in the lives of teens in need, so she launched the Teens for Jeans campaign at Weddington High School. Beginning January 4 until February 8 students brought in jeans in good condition and placed them in collection boxes set up throughout the school. After the collection dates ended, Myah packed up all the donations and dropped them off at a local Aeropostale store. Last, the collected jeans were then distributed to a local charity or shelter in the community to be given to homeless teens.
When asked why she chose the Teens for Jeans campaign Myah said, “I feel like we are in such a fortunate area and we need to be aware of the difficult situations teens our age deal with on a daily basis. As a school I knew we could come together and contribute to our community.” Myah set a goal to collect 200 pairs of jeans. With the help of the students at Weddington Middle who also participated in the collection, Myah’s goal was surpassed with a total of 300 pairs of jeans collected.
Myah would like to thank everyone for participating in the campaign. She looks forward to running the Teens for Jeans campaign again next year.
