Books, Books and More Books!
East Union Middle School has once again been the recipient of almost 3,000 free books for its students. This is made possible through the generosity of the First Book organization and its corporate sponsors.
Each year, First Book provides an opportunity for schools like EUMS to apply for books in order to promote reading – and on condition that all the books will go home with students to begin or continue growing their own personal libraries.
Reading is a core component of what students do at East Union Middle School. Dr. Kenneth Hoover, principal at EUMS, says he is committed to ensuring that all students are given every chance to grow as readers. “I think it is critical that we put books in the hands of our students,” Dr. Hoover said recently. “I am very excited about the opportunities to add two quality books to each child’s home library, and I can’t wait to give them more.”
Students in each grade level received 2 or 3 books from the following list: R My Name is RACHEL, Andrew Zimmerman’s Bizarre World of Food, The Battle of the Labyrinth, The Throne of Fire, The Night the White Deer Died, Ice Claw, The Seeker, Wildcat Fireflies, and Siren’s Storm.
