FVES Global Team Visits Costa Rica!
This past July several members of the Fairview family had an opportunity to travel to Costa Rica with the goal of becoming more culturally competent and to develop valuable cultural awareness skills that are needed to succeed in our dynamically changing and interconnected world.
Spending over a week with Immersion Abroad Costa Rica was amazing. The program fully immerses teachers into a stimulating environment where we learned about Latin culture, Spanish language, and their host families every day life.
The program's strong relationships within the community of Atenas, Costa Rica enabled us to engage in many cross cultural experiences such as living with a trusted host family, participating in meaningful community service projects related to the environment and social services, Latin dancing, dining on local food, and celebrating their local customs and traditions. Becoming fully immersed in the daily rhythms and routines in Atenas accelerated our cultural understandings and language acquisition which correlates with the counties vision of Globalization, Innovation, and Graduation (G.I.G).
Our group was provided with a well-rounded cultural educational experience, where we explored the incredible environmental and cultural diversity within Costa Rica through adventures to the beach, rainforest, mountains, and volcanoes and interacting with various people in local communities.
