Students Welcome Students; Freshman Orientation

History teacher Don Mather greets freshmen and discusses academic expectations at this year's Freshman Orientation.

The halls of Parkwood were busy with activity as Student Council welcomed the freshman class of 2017 on Sunday, August 18th at Freshman Orientation. Over half of the freshman class and their parents attended the event.

Students and their parents began orientation by meeting the new principal, Mrs. Stephanie McManus, in the new gym for a brief introduction. Parents then stayed behind to meet with administration in the new gym while the freshman students met with Student Council members in the auditorium. Student Council members then gave guided tours around the school, allowing freshman students to see their classrooms and get a feel for their new school. Throughout the tour, students visited classrooms where teachers and students gave short presentations about expectations, dress code, athletics, organizations and much more. Refreshments were provided, and the tours ended in the Student Center where clubs had booths with information and representatives who answered questions.

“It was great to see so many freshmen excited about coming to Parkwood!” commented Student Body President, Michael Leckrone. Student Council, administration, faculty and staff welcome the class of 2017 to Parkwood High School!
