FHHS FFA Member Jonah Rape Wins State Award
Over the past two years Forest Hills High School student, Jonah Rape, has been working very hard on his Supervised Agricultural Experience or SAE project, and his efforts have really paid off. All agriculture students at the school are required to complete an SAE project outside of school and report back to the teachers for a mandatory grade as part of all agriculture classes.
Jonah helps to manage a local family-owned poultry farm for his SAE project. This past school year, with the help of his agricultural teachers, Mr. Deese and Mr. Strickland, Jonah completed a FFA proficiency award application on his project. This is a contest through the National FFA Organization where students describe their agriculture related projects in depth and then submit them to be judged and ranked at the state level. Jonah's application was so good that he placed FIRST in the area of poultry science in the state of North Carolina and his application has been submitted to the national level for further review.
Jonah received special recognition at the 85th North Carolina State FFA Convention along with a plaque and a generous cash reward for his efforts.
Congratulations to Jonah Rape on his hard work and dedication!
