Sandy Ridge Elementary School staff, students donate globally
Thanks to the giving spirit of staff and students at Sandy Ridge Elementary School, some families in developing countries are much better off today.
The Sandy Ridge Student Council and the Sandy Ridge Globalization Committee decided to collect and donate money to a global organization to help people in need.
The student council voted to collect money for the Heifer International organization. All together, the school raised more than $700.
The mission of Heifer International is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth.
“With the money they collected, they were able to purchase an irrigation pump, water buffalo, and two flocks of chicks and sheep,” said Jennifer Carlson, a third-grade teacher at Sandy Ridge Elementary.
“By giving the people these animals and irrigation pumps they are able to feed their family and provide for their future,” Carlson added. “Great job goes out the student council members and the globalization committee to make it a success!”
