Shiloh reads with the Bobcats!
Shiloh was treated to a performance by members of the Charlotte Bobcats organization on September 16! Their mascot Rufus came to help put on two shows for all of our students on the importance of reading. The show highlighted many reasons why it is important to read. Students were even read a story about Rufus that explained how his love for reading helped him to succeed in school and in his life.
This interactive event featured music, magic tricks, special “moves” by Rufus, and even some dancing with Rufus for some unsuspecting Shiloh staff members. To make this event even more special, Rufus traveled to Shiloh on the Bobcats Literacy Bus. After the show, thirty lucky students were able to go onto to Literacy Bus and pick out a book to take home.
This show left a positive impression on our students, and it served as the official kick-off to our Fall Book Fair! Our Scholastic Fall Book Fair will run from September 17-26. It will be open until 3 PM from the 17th-20th. It will stay open until 5 PM on 23rd-25th, and until 7PM on the 26th. Shiloh is thankful for the recent visit by the Bobcats. The Literacy Bus program is part of the many community outreach programs that they do. Shiloh thanks 5th grade teacher Mrs. Barrows for organizing the event.
