A Long Way From Home...

Ms. Archibald's kindergarten students listen to a story.

Ms. Archibald has taught for several years with students in first through fifth grade. Ms. Archibald credits her love of teaching to her parents who “instilled the importance of education at a very young age,” and says she got into teaching because she “wanted to change the world by making it a better place and to be a positive role model to her students.”

Her family lives in many different countries in the world, and as a young child she remembers visiting America and telling her relatives that when she got older she would move to America to work and live.

Ms. Archibald has faced several challenges in America, including driving on the other side of the road and understanding all of the different dialects. She also noted that in London elementary students arrived at school by walking or car. Watching the students arrive and depart by a school bus is a change for her as well.

Even though there are many more challenges and changes in her future, the one big positive factor is the friendliness of the staff at Stallings Elementary and waking up to the warmth of sunshine.
