Union Power Cooperative Surprises PRHS Teacher

Luanne Sherron of the Union Power Cooperative surprises Jennie Yearick with an Early Bird gift card of $500.

Mrs. Jennie Yearick, math teacher, was surprised to receive an Early Bird award from Luanne Sherron of the Union Power Cooperative today. Union Power Cooperative began taking applications for Bright Ideas Grants in April. Because she applied by the August 16, Early-bird deadline, Mrs. Yearick was entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $500 gift card.

Union Power Cooperative, in conjunction with their statewide organization, North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation, is a proud sponsor of the Bright Ideas Educational Grant program. This program awards grants to support innovative, creative teaching initiatives that cannot be covered by traditional school funding. The grants are awarded for projects in any discipline and are intended to help teachers by acquiring needed materials, teaching units, and hands-on opportunities to enhance their students' learning experience.

Applications for the Bright Ideas Grant are being accepted through September 27th. For more information, visit the Union Power Cooperative website.
