Hello! My name is Melanie Owens Davis. I am from North Augusta, SC. North Augusta sits right across the river from Augusta, GA. Augusta, GA is home of the famous golf tournament Master’s which is held every Spring. I graduated from Morris College and received my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Walden University. I have both my B-K certification and Elementary Education certification. Although I have both certifications, I have only taught Pre-K and I absolutely love it! I have lived in Rochester, NY and Richmond, VA. Being born and raised in the south, Rochester was just TOO cold for me! This past June, I traveled to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. There, I got married! Punta Cana is beautiful and I can’t wait until my next trip. I do believe that learning more about the history of the Dominican Republic would be very interesting. A few of my favorite authors are Laura Numeroff, Eric Carle, Jan Brett, and Ezra Keats. A few of my favorite things to do include spending time with my family, reading, cooking…well trying to cook, and shopping.
My name is Kristy Privette and I am from Spartanburg, S.C. I graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a B.A. in Elementary Education. I have taught kindergarten, first grade and second grade. I enjoy spending time at the beach. When I am at the beach, I like to swim, collect seashells, and watch my two children surf. My son, Mitchell, is an active ten year old boy. He enjoys hunting and riding his ATV. My daughter, Amanda, is 17 years old. She is a senior at CATA and is busy visiting and applying to colleges. This summer my wonderful husband and I celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary in St. Martin.
Hello Everyone! My name is Dana Kaupp and I am originally from Plattsburgh, NY (right near the Canadian border). I graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a degree in Elementary Education. Then, I received a degree in Reading Specialization. Soon after, I moved to Monroe and began teaching in Union County. I have taught second and first grade in the past and I am very excited to teach Kindergarten this year! My husband and I have 6 children and 5 grandchildren. Two of our children still live at home; Ethan who is in 7th grade and Gracie who is in 5th. One of my favorite things to do is read. I loved the Hunger Games series and one of my all-time favorites is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (Many of you 5th grade girls would love it!).
My name is Leah Deane and I was born in CT. My husband Don and I moved to North Carolina two years ago and we now live in Indian Land, SC with our three month old daughter, McKinley and our two cats, Misty and Little Beans. I have a B.S. in psychology from Central CT State University and a Master in Education from Eastern CT State University. During my down time I very much enjoy going on vacation to different places and relaxing with my family.
I'm from Nairobi, Kenya and I am Esther Kinyanjui. I was born and raised at Nairobi. I went to college at UNCC and graduated with a BS degree. I have taught pre- school at Head Start. I have lived at Waxahachie Texas, and Springfield, Missouri. I have traveled to Utah to see the canyon and to these states to visit friends in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Indiana, California, and Georgia. In our family we have four men and twin girls. My favorite book is Rainbow Fish. I love going to the beach and walking on the sea shore.
My name is Sally Buckmaster. I am originally from Texas, but spent the majority of my later childhood in New Jersey. As a child I moved often because of the work my father did for the Department of Defense. I have lived in Texas, Florida, Maryland, California, New Jersey, Oregon, South Carolina, and North Carolina. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade. In 2007 I went to Italy with the UNCC Select Concert Choir for 10 days and performed in 7 cities. I have two teenage boys. I like to go camping with them. In my spare time I like to knit, crochet, and sew. I love to read Skippy Jon Jones books.
My name is Lana Hoffman. I grew up in High Point NC and lived there until I was grown. I have also lived in South Carolina. I went to Pfeiffer University and have a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have taught every grade from pre-k through fourth, but kindergarten is definitely where my heart is! I have 3 children that I am very proud of and a brand new puppy at my house. My favorite books to read at school are Fancy Nancy books and my favorite books to read at home are by Karen Kingsbury.
I am one of the few original Charlotte girls still living in the area. I graduated from Wingate University. I am Holly Beane and this is my 21st year teaching. All but two years have been in kindergarten. My husband and I will celebrate our 23rd anniversary this year. We have been blessed with two beautiful girls. One is 19 and in college and the other one is 10 and in the 4th grade. I love to ride Tennessee walking horses. My favorite thing to do is take them on long trail rides in the fall and spring.
My name is Tracy Weingartner and I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio. I graduated from the College of Mount Saint Joseph in Early Education and have taught grades k-2. My favorite place that I've traveled is London, England and my favorite book is Charlotte's Web. This year I am taking a tap dancing class so I can learn to dance like Gene Kelly.
