Solid Figure Fun
Kindergarten has been studying 2 D shapes (circles, triangles, squares, rectangles and hexagons) and 3D shapes (cubes, cones and cylinders) in Math. During our study, we incorporated some really neat activities that allowed us to feel and visualize solid figures. Students were able to go on a shape hunt to find 2D and 3D shapes in the real world. To end our week long study of shapes, students were able to visit many 3D shape centers to demonstrate their mastery. Students made party hats from cones, made necklaces using rigatoni noodles for cylinders and rolled play-dough for spheres and used connecting cubes to make different sized cubes. The students had a BLAST learning all about the differences between 2D and 3D shapes!
