Second Graders Learn About Fire Safety

Last week, the second graders of Prospect Elementary had a great opportunity to meet with a forest ranger, and Smokey the Bear, and fire safety.

Students learned about forest fires and how they can be caused by smoking, campfires, fireworks, tractors, trains, matches, lighters, but especially people. They talked about the dangers of fire and the forest ranger gave the students some tips to stay safe and told us that we should not play with matches, lighters, or fireworks. All of the students enjoyed talking with the forest ranger and giving Smokey the Bear a “bear” hug for keeping us safe.
