Fun Run 2013 at Weddington Elementary School

Weddington Elementary students take pride in participating in Fun Run 2013! When students arrived to their various classes on Friday, they put on their Fun Run t-shirts, laced up their sneakers, put on their game faces and prepared to come out to the track field for a day of fun.

Fun Run is a friendly race that promotes fitness, leadership and character. It provides a student with the opportunity to learn that fitness is fun and staying active is a very important aspect of life.

The Fun Run experience combines a fun fitness event, an interactive character program, and a very successful school fundraiser. This event is sponsored by local businesses, organizations and parents in promoting staying active and healthy for Weddington Elementary School students.

Weddington Elementary PTA and parent volunteers assisted with the school’s event. They helped students with marking t-shirts, handing out green plastic water bottles for the Fun Run participants, the official cheer squad and some parents even ran in the race with their child(ren).

Mrs. Blanchard, (Weddington Elementary School Principal) tied her laces and joined Weddington Elementary students on the track to run a couple of laps while holding her walkie talkie! Coach Keith Kraemer donated ice cream to the first student who completed 20 laps in each grade level to help boost the students’ speed in the race. Several teachers also ran in this race to show their students that staying fit is very important.

A local disc jockey played kid friendly music to help make Fun Run an even more fun-filled day! PTA members donated $25.00 gift cards to the teachers who ran the most laps.

From the water station to the track field, Fun Run ensures that students, teachers and parents have a blast! As the run ends, laps are tallied and students are given gifts for participating in Fun Run 2013. Fun Run exists to impact students with an unforgettable experience and a day of exciting activities.
