Maverick Message Returns to Website and much more!

Good Evening this is Mr. Conner with your Maverick Message. I would like to congratulate Ms. Lindsey Arant for being selected Teacher of the Year for Marvin Ridge High School. Perhaps you saw her directing the Homecoming Royalty Ceremonies, Friday night. She is very deserving and will represent our school well. I would like to welcome Mr. Cameron Starr, our cross country and track coach, to our staff as a full time PE teacher. He is great addition to our team.
This past week was" Spirit Week" directed by our Student Council, Ms. Justice and Ms. Lawson. There was definitely a lot of spirit in the halls at Marvin Ridge including an energy filled PEP Rally. Congratulations to our Royalty listed in the Maverick Message and to our Queen Lindy Schoenborn. The Mav Dance Team, Cheerleaders, the Band and our Student Body Fan Section provided the atmosphere for a very special night which ended with an incredibly exciting game against Sun Valley. In fact, our JV Football Game on Thursday and the Varsity Game on Friday provided plenty of exciting and cardiac moments this week. This fall sports season has been action packed with our Women's Volleyball, Cross Country, and Golf Teams winning conference titles. The Men's Soccer Team is ranked # 1 among 3A Schools and 14 th in the Nation and poised to make a run deep into the play offs. Men's Cross Country and Women's Tennis finished second in conference and the tennis team won their first team match in the playoffs and will send a doubles team to state. Aaron Hammers was named Coach of the Year and Morgan Laird, Player of the Year for Golf. Friday Night Lights at Marvin Ridge High School is really Monday, Tuesday, sometimes Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday Night Lights. If you are only coming on Fridays you are missing some great action. CHECK provided a fun and entertaining performance this week be sure to check out one of their next events. This week we have a Band Concert on Tuesday and Chorus Concert on Thursday in addition to sporting events. Check our calendar for all of the details.
Finally a few announcements:
Our Media Center is extending student hours on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays to 4:30 pm. They are open at 7:30 am each morning.
Parent Portal passwords can be picked up from the office Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 3-5 pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-7 pm.
We have been granted an extension for the Patriot Bowl Football Game Tickets until October 29th,you may purchase them online or at school. Remember no tickets will be available at the gates.
The final installment our Security Cameras has been completed to insure increased student safety.

A special thank you to Shannon Taflinger our Homecoming Queen for 2012 for presenting the crown this year and to all of the alumni that came on Friday.
