North Carolina vs. Argentina
The New Salem fourth graders recently explored some differences and similarities between North Carolina and Argentina as a follow-up to the study of North Carolina. Fourth grade social studies goal is to understand the various cultural group impacts on North Carolina.
The students researched one major topic, such as money, climate, animals and food using the internet. They used graphic organizers to present their information on how North Carolina and Argentina were similar in each area and how they were different. One group discovered in Argentina, money is called pecos. Another group learned that many families in Argentina have peacocks as pets, much like we have cats and dogs.
A bulletin board was created compiling all the student information in a venn diagram.
