Parkwood Wins Union County JROTC Competition!

Cadets participated in a Tug of War competition.

On Monday, October 14th, Parkwood's AFJROTC had a busy day competing in their first competition of the year. With the help of Lt.Col. Kelly and Smsgt. Reid, the cadets' time spent practicing paid off. Monroe High School hosted the Union County JROTC games where many schools including CATA, Forest Hills, Monroe, Parkwood, Piedmont, Porter Ridge, and Sun Valley, competed in drill and sports for the overall win.

Parkwood placed first in Basic Armed Element, second in Color Guard, second in Basic Unarmed Flight, second in Basic Unarmed Element, and first in Basic Armed flight. They also placed second in the Mile Run with the top six cadets finishing as follows: Cadet Morgan Kampen with the time of 7:23, Cadet Jasmin Cruz with the time of 7:37, Cadet Philip Abernathy with the time of 5:23, Cadet Chabelo Lantz with the time of 5:55, Cadet Duncan Greene with the time of 6:54, and Cadet Daniel Carns with the time of 7:03.

Parkwood placed second in Tug of War, first in the Team Mile Relay, second  in Team Push-Ups, and first in Volleyball. In the end Parkwood placed first overall with the highest number of points!
