Tri-High Concert first of its kind, special dedication for MRHS Ensembles
On Thursday evening October 24, the MRHS auditorium was alive with song. Parkwood, Weddington, and MRHS presented the first collaborative choral concert in Union County - Tri High Concert. There were four choirs with each choir presenting 4 songs. Students enjoyed having the opportunity to hear other area choirs.
The MRHS Men's Ensemble looked great in their new blue shirts and ties and their singing was exciting. Jason Phillips and D'Mitiri Emmanuel did a great job as soloists and the men had fun singing about Jonah, touched out hearts in their lovely rendering of "Tell My Father" and wowed the girls with "My Girl."
The Women's Ensemble shimmered in their outfits and sang wonderfully Korean and Scottish folksongs plus a fun medley from the 50's and 60's. Both ensembles performed "We Go Together" from Grease and rocked the house.
The MRHS singers dedicated their portion of the program to former choral student and recent graduate, Kayla Ploughman. She attended the performance and received get-well wishes and flowers from her friends. Earlier this school year, Kayla’s family learned of her serious illness and began rigorous treatment. We continue to keep Kayla and her family in our thoughts and thank choral students for thoughtfulness and dedication to Kayla.
