Johnson & Wales visits WHS
On Wednesday, October 9, students enrolled in Foods I & II had an awesome surprise guest.
Chef Thomas DeRosa came to visit representing Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, NC!
Chef DeRosa began his presentation by talking with the students about the school’s history and the academic programs and degrees offered at each of the four JWU campuses.
Students were given an inside glance at the wonderful opportunities and programs that the university has to offer current and potential students. Chef DeRosa also spoke about the different majors at each of the 4 campuses; Charlotte, NC; Denver, CO: Providence, RI: and Miami, FL.
Perhaps the most memorable of his 90 minute presentation was the cooking demonstration of Mushroom Risotto which all the students took a special interest in. The students loved it!
Sophomore Nick Patterson says, “It was great! I loved it.”
“It was an opportunity to taste something different”, added senior Hayley Chilcott. “It was great! I think I will try to cook it at home."
Thank you Chef DeRosa for visiting Weddington High School!
