Team Building Field Day
Field Day was held this past Tuesday, on October 22, 2013. Usually Poplin’s Field Day is held at the end of the school year, but this year it was held in the Fall because all of the activities and games required teamwork and cooperation. Physical Education Teacher Melinda Jobe said, “The purpose of this Field Day was to create a more positive class community and enhance team building skills school wide.”
The games and activities encouraged each class to become more responsible for the time spent together, as well as, to be more respectful of each student in the class regardless of their strengths and/or weaknesses.
Hailey Smith, a fourth grader in Michele Martin’s class said, “When we worked together as a class to pull the parachute up, all the balls went higher! We got lots of exercise. It was a great time to see how you can work together as a group.”
Through out the day students chanted “We are a team! I will try my best! We will work work together!
By having a team-building field day early in the school year it is hoped that all the classes develop a sense of working together not only during field day but everyday.
