Women's Tennis heads to State Championship
The WHS Women's Tennis Team has had a very successful season. They dominated the regular season and became the Southern Carolina Conference Champions.
Their road to a 3A State Championship has included a first round victory over Cuthbertson High School.
In the second round, the Warriors celebrated a 5 - 4 road win over East Rowan.
In the quarterfinals, the team defeated North Buncombe 5 - 1.
The Warriors headed to Asheville High School this past Wednesday for the semifinals where they crushed the competition to become the West Region Champions. Now they head to Burlington this Saturday for the 3A State Championship.
The Warrior starting lineup includes No. 1 Heidi Swope, No. 2 Charlotte Ulehla, No. 3 Lacey Hunter, No. 4 Morgan Weatherby, No. 5 Hayley Hinson, and No. 6 Ashley Hinson.
Heidi Swope won the 3A Singles State Championship last week. Senior Amanda Huben teamed with Haley Hinson in doubles. Together they made it to the 3A Doubles State Championship.
