MASH 5 Came to Shiloh!
Shiloh recently opened its doors to the community for what we called MASH 5. MASH, or “Movies at Shiloh,” nights began two years ago in November, 2011. At the time, Mr. Spencer wanted to allow the students, parents, and staff a night that they could come to school to enjoy a movie with each other. This idea of strengthening the school community through a night of fun has become a new tradition at Shiloh. The school hosts two movie nights per year, and students frequently ask when the next one will be.
For our fifth movie night on November 8, those who attended were treated to a viewing of Gnomeo and Juliet. We estimate that 1/3 of the student population came to this event! The smiles on their faces began when the doors opened, and it was clear to us that they had a great time during the entire night. Shiloh staff members were also on hand as well to both enjoy the movie and assist with the refreshments.
Prior to the start of the movie, Mr. Spencer was joined in front of the crowd by Mrs. Guzman, Mrs. Aldredge, and Mrs. Klutz. They addressed three areas to the crowd that Shiloh’s Site-Based Team identified as needing improvement from last year’s parent survey. To help with this process, Shiloh has added a “Did you know?” section on our website under the “Parents & Community” link. This section of the website shows our efforts to improve/communicate in those areas. Our goal is to continue with open communication with our school community to inform them of the countless great programs that go on each day at Shiloh.
We are proud that this year’s MASH night was a success, and we look forward to hosting MASH 6 in the spring!
