Three Teachers receive Teacher and Classroom Mini-Grants

Mrs. Lalone is presented with her check by Foundation Board Members Sabrina Hodges, Sylvia Newsome, Star Shaffer and Assistant Principal Marcus Leake.

Three teachers at Weddington High received a very special surprise.  They were awarded Teacher and Classroom Mini-Grants from the Union County Education Foundation. The Mini-Grant program allows Union County Public Schools system teachers to apply for grants for technological advancements, classroom enhancements and educational programs. The grants range from $100-$500.

This year the Foundation presented 40 teachers from 26 UCPS schools with grants worth more than $18,000.

Mrs. Sanders, our Agriculture teacher, received $500 to buy seeds and other agricultural supplies for her classes and FFA club.  Ms. Frink, our Family and Consumer Science teacher, was awarded $350 to purchase groceries for her foods classes.  She will also use some the money to donate WubbaNub pacifiers to local hospitals.  Our math teacher, Mrs. Lalone, received $500 to purchase graphing calculators for students to use in their math classes.
