EUMS Math 24 club prepares for challenging competition
Math 24 is a fast-paced mathematics program which builds strong mental mathematics and problem-solving skills. The challenge is to create equations that total 24 by using all numbers on each card and any combination of addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. Mathematics problems range from addition and subtraction to integers and algebra readiness.
Each year students all over the country compete in their classrooms, in their schools, and at the district level. The top students are then given the opportunity to compete at the county level. National School District students have taken top honors.
Here at East Union, students meet once a week after school to practice their Math 24 skills. In April, East Union’s Math 24 team will compete against the rest of the middle schools in Union County. Students who place at the top of the county-wide competition will receive medals for their excellence in math.
Students interested in joining this group should see Mrs. Cassada in room 40. Students must prearrange to be picked up by 5:00PM.
