Foods II goes to the Art Institute
On November 14th the Foods II class along with a few art students journeyed to the magical Art Institute of Charlotte.
WHS students toured the campus building and learned about the different majors they offer which include: Fashion, Culinary and Baking, Graphic Design, and Interior Design.
There is a restaurant on the main floor called the Artisan Cafe, which is run by some of the culinary students. After our tour of the building, the culinary students prepared a private four course meal for us.
The first course was a salad full of leafy greens, cranberries, apples and seeds. The main course was sliced chicken on top of couscous, asparagus and sauteed mushrooms.
For dessert there was a pumpkin cake layered with whip cream and chocolate mousse in a glass. Lastly, we were served an apple slice coated in caramel and white chocolate drizzle.
There are over 50 different Art Institute campuses across the U.S. and Canada.
All the WHS students had a great time on this field trip and learned a vast amount of information about the school. “I can not wait to apply here!” said one student.
