Ms. MRHS, Cara Edwards, named overall winner!

Congratulations to Ms. MRHS and Union County Parade Princess Cara Edwards, who was named the overall Carolinas Carrousel Scholarship winner in a surprise presentation at school on Thursday, November 21.  She was featured in the Novant Health Carolinas Carrousel Thanksgiving Day Parade in Charlotte.  Cara was chosen among 43 candidates from area high schools in North and South Carolina for her academic achievement, community involvement, as well as a personal essay and interview skills. Great job, Cara!
 
2013 Miss MRHS, Cara Edwards, was crowned the Union County Christmas Parade Princess and winner of the Alex Kahle Memorial Scholarship on Thursday evening, November 7. Cara will represent Marvin Ridge and Union County in the Carolinas Carrousel Scholarship Pageant later this month. With her new title, Cara will receive a $4000 college scholarship to the school of her choice.

Cara is a senior at Marvin Ridge who excels both academically and otherwise, ranking near the top of her class. In addition, Cara is very involved in extracurricular activities. She is co-president of NAHS and NCHS, secretary of NHS, vice president of Science Olympiad, and a representative on Student Council. In sports, Cara is the captain of the swim team. Outside of school, she is very active in her community, volunteering regularly in her youth group. In the future, Cara hopes to attend the United States Naval Academy for college.
