The CHS National Honor Society sponsored a canned food drive for the Loaves & Fishes in Charlotte during November led by advisers Jennifer Wells-Lewis and Marissa Cominotti. Loaves & Fishes is a nonprofit, nondenominational organization that provides a week's worth of nutritious groceries to individuals and families in a short-term crisis. In 2012, Loaves & Fishes provided groceries to 126,803 people. The CHS first block classes held a friendly competition to see who could donate the most items.

NHS treasurer and senior Ethan Good said, “The drive was really successful – the top two classes combined came up with 900 cans and boxes of food. It’s good to know that our school cared enough to donate as much as we did and could be that generous.”

Over 1000 items were collected overall that will go to families this holiday season. Ms. Whitt’s and Ms. Mosley’s first block classes led the school in contributions! Great job, Cavs!
