United Way Award

Marshville Elementary School was recently recognized by the United Way for having the highest percentage of staff donations in the Forest Hills Cluster! This cluster includes Marshville Elementary, Union Elementary, Wingate Elementary, East Union Middle, and Forest Hills High. Teachers and other faculty members are able to donate a certain percentage of their paycheck each month. Donating is not mandatory; however, most teachers donate every year. It is a way for the teachers and staff to be able to give back to the community and United Way uses these funds to make a difference in families’ lives throughout Union County.
The United Way is a foundation whose mission is to improve peoples’ lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good. In 2008, the United Way initiated a program to improve education, help families achieve financial stability, and promote healthy lives.
