FBLA and HOSA Students Volunteer at the Christmas Bureau
On Friday, December 13, students from Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) took a trip to work with the Department of Social Services at their annual Christmas Bureau in downtown Monroe.
HOSA students made 100 stockings containing presents for children of all ages. These stockings traveled with the clubs and were delivered to the Christmas Bureau. The group of 43 students arrived at 8:30 am ready to work and were assigned jobs. Some students packed boxes of food to give to each family for a complete Holiday meal. Other students sorted bikes, checked tires, tightened seats and attached a safety helmet to each bike. PRHS students packed 556 boxes of food. The HOSA students made 350 extra stockings. Several students even helped with clerical duties, by matching family applications with a roster of completed gift selections.
PRHS students felt very fortunate to work with such a wonderful origination that provides children with the blessings of Christmas. Edwina Baucom, Barbara Ellis, and Pat Tompkins escorted the students.
