Local students participate in a "Dickens of a Christmas" in downtown Waxhaw
Selected students in 7th and 8th grade were invited to participate in the “Living Windows” portion of First Friday. In the windows of five stores along Main Street in Waxhaw our students portrayed scenes from different points in the story of Ebenezer Scrooge. By visiting the windows in order, visitors to First Friday could experience The Christmas Carol’s tale of redemption and holiday spirit.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the unique experience to perform on demand with the audience a few feet from them. As people entered the stores the students began their scenes, flawlessly invoking the characters so that audience members felt transported back to Victorian Era England.
“It was great to see the students performing in such an intimate setting,” said Ms. DePietro. “For many students that can be intimidating, but I was very proud of how well they handled themselves.”
Parkwood is proud to have our students featured in this community event as well. We are looking forward to seeing even more of our students participating next year.
