Students receive Excelsior Awards

Fall recipients are pictured wearing their medallions.

Weddington High School held its Fall Excelsior Awards Breakfast on Wednesday, December 18, 2013.

The Excelsior program was created in 2007 under the leadership of school administration and the Climate for High Expectations Correlate.

Excelsior is a recognition process which allows the faculty to recognize students who have exhibited excellent work ethic and leadership within their classes through thoughtful, hand-written messages on an Excelsior postcard.

Twice a year, each department chooses one male and one female student to receive the Departmental Excelsior Award for their accomplishments. Each student receives a medallion as a result of this recognition.  Two faculty members are also selected by the school administration.

Seniors recognized were Jessica Baucom, Corey Motte, Kevin Moncada-Gutierrez, Devyn Quick, Chyna Tillman, and Julian Weinbrenner.

Aileen Benedict was the junior recognized.

Sophomores recognized were Dallas Braswell, Sam Cohen, Alexander Jones, Patricia Kanos, Collin Love, and Katelyn Prakash.

Freshmen recognized were Tiffany Butcher, Christian Fulton, Caroline Horne, Alex Lubinecky, Lunic Ngwa, and Camilla Sirico.

Faculty members recognized were Laura Lalone and Katie Morris.
