Special message to all Union County Public Schools Employees, Parents, and Students
On behalf of the school board and myself, I would like to wish each of you and your family a joyous holiday season.
I hope that all of you have a safe, happy winter break and are able to spend some quality time with loved ones. I also want to take this opportunity to personally thank you for your support and dedication throughout the school year.
Because of the hard work of our students, teachers, parents, principals, and support staff, Union County Public Schools is one of the top two performing school systems in the state of North Carolina as measured by the performance composite rates on the state’s end of year assessments.
The 2013 UCPS graduation rate was 90.83 percent, marking the seventh consecutive year that the graduation rate has improved and the first time in state history that a large school system has had a graduation rate above 90%.
The 2013-2014 school year has been a great one so far, and we look forward to the second half of it being even better.
As we pause during this holiday season, may we all reflect on our accomplishments and our challenges and re-commit to always keeping the main thing, the main thing and that is our children, their safety, well-being and their education.
Again, have a happy and safe holiday and a wonderful new year!
