Rufus from the Charlotte Bobcats visits BHESA

A BHESA third grader is the lucky student who gets to go on stage with a Charlotte Bobcats representative and the team's mascot, "Rufus."

Students at Benton Heights Elementary School of the Arts hosted the Charlotte Bobcats recently.

The Bobcats showcased their message to “Read to Succeed in Life.”

Charlotte Bobcats mascot, Rufus, performed two shows for students, focusing on his own love of reading.

He encouraged all students and staff to read to succeed in life.

The show was filled with lots of energy, music, tricks and, of course, the famous moves of Rufus himself.

The Bobcats’ literacy bus also visited the school campus and presented 30 books to some BHESA students who were allowed to select from hundreds of books on board.

“BHESA would like to thank the Charlotte Bobcats Organization and Lowe’s for bringing this great program to our young readers,” said BHESA Media Specialist Beth Lanzy.

“Also, a special thanks to BHESA Arts Coordinator Frank Casstevens for organizing this visit,” she added.
