Each year Fairview Elementary establishes a program to help children during the holiday season. Teachers and students are given the opportunity to participate in a program called “Adopt a Child”. This program consists of a whole class “adopting” a child for the holiday season. Age, gender, clothing sizes and interests are given to the students of participating classes. These students then take the information given to them and purchase items on the list to give back to these anonymous children for the holidays. (This program was truly optional to participate in.)
We had great success this year! Our school was able to help 46 children in the community with Christmas! All of the gifts were wrapped by our own little “Fairview Elves” before the families came to pick them up. The students who participated had a fantastic and humbling experience in the area of generosity. Thank you to all of the students, families, and community sponsors who were able to help make a child’s Christmas magical!
