Mrs. Buttafuoco's 5th Grade Class Penpals
It is becoming a yearly tradition for Miss Buttafuoco’s Fifth Grade class to be penpals with their sister school in Loderop, Sweden. For the second consecutive year, her class has sent and received letters and pictures from students in Sweden. In their letters, students shared what life is like here in Wingate. Students were amazed at the differences just in the weather in Sweden. They are eager to receive their next round of letters to continue their learning about Sweden.
In addition to sending letters to Sweden, Miss Buttafuoco’s class sang a song during our holiday performance about St. Lucia. They decided to extend their learning by reenacting it. Katia wore a traditional gown and candles to showcase the Sweden tradition. In the photo, she is handing out Lucia buns. The gown she is wearing is an antique from Miss Buttafuoco’s family. It came to the US from Sicily around 1907.
Keep up the great work!
