Third grade teachers host “Canvas and Cocoa”

On January 24, third grade teachers hosted “Canvas and Cocoa” with the winners from Winterfest!

Students created art inspired by Gustav Klimt’s “Tree of Life.” They used washable tempera paint on canvas and practiced blending to create a gradient of colors. Each color represented one of the four seasons.

When the background was dry, the children made a tree for their focal point and some swirls using complementary colors. Each piece was very unique and represented each personality. Some of the trees were girly and swirly, some dark and gloomy.

It was our hope to teach them all a little about art and inspire them, but as we watched, WE were inspired by their technique and creativity.
