Waxhaw Warriors participate in the Komen breast cancer walk
On the morning of October 5, 2013 the Waxhaw Warriors participated in the Komen Breast Cancer walk in Charlotte. This was the 2nd year they walked in honor of our friend and colleague, Susan Joyner who was diagnosed with breast cancer in the summer of 2012. She has been cancer free for over a year now! Susan shared her experience and pictures of last year’s walk to kick off our fundraiser.
The morning started off as usual, early alarm clock, getting dressed, and having a bite to eat, almost as if we were heading back to school for a day with the kids. The only difference is we were heading to the LINX to make a trip up to Marshall Park for the Annual Komen Breast Cancer walk.
The train cars and streets were filled with a sea of pink clothing and accessories. The energy was contagious. It is a site to be seen if you have been or participated in this event. Thousands of people coming together for a cause.
We didn’t set out to beat our total from last year, which was $800.00, but we feel truly inspired with the $1,077.00 we raised for this cause. Our team is growing and so are the generous donations that came in this year. Thank you to all that joined our team this year and for all the people that donated to this wonderful cause!
