Fifth Grade Teachers
Hi, my name is Paige Vaughan. I was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. Growing up in the Southwest was an adventure to say the least! From a very young age, my parents instilled in me (and my brother, Parker) a love of nature and being outdoors. We visited and explored every state and National Park on the West Coast, and I loved every minute of it! My family moved to North Carolina when I was in the fifth grade. I earned a degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University. I am currently in my third year of teaching fifth grade! I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Tyler, for almost three years now. I love hiking (especially with my golden retriever, Bailey), travelling anywhere and everywhere, spending time with my family and reading!
My name is Mark Rhoden and I am from Monroe, North Carolina. I am a proud product of Union County Public Schools This is my third year teaching at Rocky River and also my third year teaching fifth grade. I received my Bachelor's degree in education from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This past July, I married my best friend, Brooke, and we have one four legged child, a maltipoo, Rue. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, riding four wheelers, hunting and fishing. I also coach baseball at Parkwood High and with the Charlotte Megastars.
Hi everyone, my name is Taran Tyson and I have taught 5th grade for two years now. I taught 1st grade four years before moving up to the wonderful 5th grade. I have enjoyed teaching both grades and seeing the students grow. I was born in Monroe, NC. I left Monroe for a few years to go off to college at Western Carolina University. While at WCU, I studied in Elementary Education with a focus in mathematics. I also received a minor in Music. I can truly call Rocky River Elementary my home and have loved watching it grow into a wonderful community of learners and leaders.
Hi! I'm Hayley Turner, and this is my first year here at Rocky River. I have been teaching for 3 years, previously at Cornelius Elementary in CMS. I taught 2nd grade and then moved up to 5th grade. I love both ages of students equally, for different reasons of course, but especially enjoy the 5th grade curriculum. I am originally from Hendersonville, NC, but have lived all over the country, and even outside of the country throughout my life! A couple of my hobbies are cooking, reading, and exercising. I love trying out new recipes (courtesy of Pinterest!) from all over the world. My students always try to guess what I'm eating for lunch when I bring unique leftovers. I love reading, especially 5th and 6th grade books. I love being able to recommend books to my students that I have personally read, and being able to share in their excitement throughout the book! I think it is so important for my students to know that reading doesn't stop once you become an adult! One way I relieve stress and spend quality time with my husband is to exercise together. This helps me feel energized and more relaxed at the same time! I am so glad to be a part of the RyRes family, and look forward to many more years to come!
Hi I’m Adam Haas and I was born in the small town of East Aurora, about 20 minutes outside of Buffalo NY. I am one of four brothers. I graduated from the State University of New York at Cortland in 2007. While there, I started all 4 years as a Defensive Lineman for the football team. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in childhood education. Immediately after graduation I moved to Charlotte where I began my teaching career at Rocky River Elementary as a 5th grade teacher. I have taught 5th grade for 6 years and 4th grade one year. During that time I also earned my Masters degree in childhood education from Wingate University. In my spare time I enjoy working out and cooking.

Hi my name is Hannah Vannoy. I am a 5th grade teacher here at Rocky River. I grew up in Union County and attended Piedmont High School. I then went to Appalachian State University, where I earned a degree in Elementary Education. This is my second year teaching 5th grade and I enjoy every minute. My family means the world to me and most of my activities outside of school are family oriented. I love any outdoor activity including hiking and white water rafting.
